advent activities * ernie round 1

ernie has kept me us SUPER busy, and the boys are having LOTS fun! mamacita on the other hand is getting a run for her money trying to keep up, nothing like an elf alter ego to keep you on your toes! {i’m ashamed to admit that i actually FORGOT to put out today’s *ernie gift* and had to sneek it out once the boys were already awake…what is UP with my brain lately?!} here’s what ernie had us busy working on to spread that oh-so-coveted Christmas cheer…

23 days left until Christmas

mission {as read on ernie’s notes to us} : *one of my favorite parts of Christmas is the tree! where the heck is yours?! go get it today!*

accompanying disaster : wild boys that are easily distracted…

{um, son? see any trees up there? no? that’s crazy! they must be all over here. ON THE GROUND. weird. i know.}

22 days until Christmas

mission : *i see you got your tree yesterday…nice work my friends! today’s job? DECORATE! think santa’s workshop & go to town!*

accompanying disaster : out of nowhere, sunshine decided to bite into a glass ornament. apparently, it looked delish {?!} and…you guessed it. it shattered. like, shattered, shattered. like, all over shattered. the good news? no one got hurt!

sorry no images of ornament carnage, but here’s our pre-tree decorating treat {proof that i fed him prior to alleged ornament assault}

and a wanna-be santa’s elf slash tree-decorating-extraordinaire turbojet…

what more fun will ernie bring? 🙂

21 days until Christmas

mission : *you’re tree looks pretty darn good, but i think it needs a bit more. paint your new ornaments, let them dry, then hang them, in all their awesomeness, on the tree for everyone to see!*

accompanying disaster : no disaster to report! wow, shocker! and with paint and everything…i consider this a Christmas miracle!

*  *  *  *  *

20 days left

mission : *the inside of your house looks great! but, the outside? well, you’ve been lazy…get out there and decorate it!  i want to see some sparkle!*

accompanying disaster : minor injuries due to fingers being stabbed by the now-decorated Christmas cactus…

*  *  *  *  *

19 days left til the big day

mission : *i brought you something for breakfast! at the north pole, i’m in charge of cleaning up the snowman poo {yuck!}…i heard you humans like to eat it!  gross. but, enjoy!*

disaster : sunshine seriously thought it was poop. and would. not. eat. it. ernie did not take into consideration the literalness of a 2 year old!

stacey - love the name! i’m being temped by all you elf-on-the-shelfer’s…he looks SO fun! we’ll stick with ernie this year and may have to jump on the elf on the shelf bandwagon next year…we shall see!

Jadah {family sponge} - We discovered Elf on the Shelf last year. His name is “Cherry.” Love your elf activities. I saw Tara’s blog and I think this is brilliant. Thinking of adding these special notes from our elf. We just ended our giveaway for an Elf on the Shelf this weekend. Elf scouts are such a fun tradition. I love the snowman poop!

patti - AHHHH… I have been waiting patiently for pictures of the elf fun… oh and i am laughing so hard at the snowman poop!!! So, So funny,,,,,,, very clever,,, keep up the good work, you will definetly need a vacation after the month of Dec. <3
