ambition

am*bi*tion
/am ‘ biSHen/
a strong desire to do or achieve something

…or in my case a LOT of somethings.

we arrived home saturday night, all in one piece and minus a good portion of my sanity. partly due to a girl *cough*sweetpea*cough* who will. not. keep her clothes on and has streaked now in both chick-fil-a as well as lowes. and partly to 2 boys who’s decibel levels are off the charts. WAY off the charts. {why is it the last 2 hours of a road trip seem to take for.ev.er? whatever the reason, that was us on saturday…}

when we got home, i decided to hit the ground running. normally, i’m the kind of person who’s bags remain packed for days {sometimes weeks} after getting home from a trip, but not this time around. this time around i’ve gotten my hands on some of that there am*bi*tion everybody’s been talking about.

so by sunday morning at 10am, i already had bags unpacked, 3 loads of laundry done and the powder room bathroom primed {it’s been a hideous poopy brown color ever since we’ve moved in…} i’d also managed to trip over 9 million toys. i can’t figure out why i’m so clumsy…

by late sunday afternoon, we drove across the valley to purchase a sweet new ride for the circus. everyone, meet *the green burrito!*

at least that’s what i’m calling it. turbo wants to call it *the green bus* {wow. typical, logical and accurate} and sunshine wants to call it *the red d.q.* {what the? …typical, random, reeeeeeally random}.

oh, and by that time sunday, the powder room was no longer poopy brown, but a ridiculously fluorescent, radio-active aqua color that’s so darn bright, it could send a person into convulsions.

annnnnnd, now we need to re-paint the powder room. again. yay for us {sarcastic}. who picked that color anyway? {points across the room with guilt written all over face}

oh, well. paint’s cheap.

despite the powder room paint fiasco {literally, you guys, it fluoresces. it’s so bad.} i’ve been feeling both accomplished {i’m still celebrating the simple fact that our bags are unpacked…}, and at the same time feeling like i’m accomplishing nothing. after all, my to-do list is still 50 miles long and growing.

still rolling with mr. am*bi*tion, today i made 40 crockpot meals and will blog about it in the very near future for those of you who were asking on instagram {follow me! i’m : lifeasyouliveit}

tomorrow, i attack the aformentioned miles long to-do list…

…i’m going to need another order of ambition with a side of iced coffee.

{i’m curious…are you all list makers? or do you keep it all in your head? and if you’re list makers, do you just have one long list of everything together or do you break it out in sections? ex. work/house/fun projects/etc. i’ve always wondered how other people get stuff done. sometimes i get too overwhelmed and then when i sit down, i can’t figure out what to do, so i do nothing. oui.}

cheers *

Barbara - I am a list-maker. Now if I could just manage to cross more things off of my list!

Glad you don’t live near us or my husband would moan looking at your Green Burrito, mourning the loss, probably 10 years ago, of our orange and white one that decided to burn up one day. Had only had a a year or two. Bought it from a couple in Sun City. His hippie wig went well with it!

Stephanie - I sit down on Sunday evenings and figure out what I need to accomplish for the week ahead. I try to be very realistic with what we have going on in our daily lives and what is on the calendar. One list for me is all I need and it feels great checking everything off my list and starting a new one every week!

Amber K - I currently have four lists going: Cecilia’s big girl room, baby nursery, random house projects and grocery list. It’s never ending!

Kathy - I have 5 different lists….one with the weekly plan, a weekly planner to plan out when to do the things on my list, a “larger view” list with future goals, a to-do list for the house stuff (where is my laundry fairy?) and then the list of fun things I want to do and will make myself do at some point soon.

That being said, half the time I get caught up in something I need to do and get distracted and don’t finish things on my list. But I do put time in my schedule to MAKE the list. I also have the ability through Siri on my phone to set a reminder when I’m off somewhere and remember something I need to do to add it to the list, because of course when I’m grocery shopping I’ll remember something I need to do.

I <3 you and LOVE the Green Burrito….maybe you should paint it with that turquoise!
