word on the street {our street to be exact} is that coffee keeps babies awake at night…even when they’re extremely. tired.

yeah, i know right? who knew? want to know how i know this? well let me tell you a quick story about my bad parenting move #947.

at 3pm, the circus and i were at the store, and if you’re like me, 3pm is “hit-the-wall” hour which means : COFFEE. STAT! or i spend the rest of the afternoon a walking zombie. that being said, i grabbed a grande iced coffee at starbucks. none of this foo-foo business that most people drink {no offense} but real, straight up, iced, black coffee {yeah baby}. and if you’ve never had starbucks iced coffee, let me tell you it is HIGH-OCTANE. you can see where i’m going with this. we live in arizona. it was hot today. my baby was hot today. and great mother that i am, i didn’t have her water with me {#946}.

here’s where we get to the scene of the crime…so there i was, in the store, with a thirsty, hot baby and a refreshing iced coffee. what’s a mama to do? i gave her a sip to appease her, thinking she wouldn’t like it. and do you know that girl is MINE! she sucked that black coffee down like it was the sweetest thing this side of chocolate milk. a few sips here and there throughout the store, and we were golden. happy girl, happy mama.

ask me if it was happy girl, happy mama tonight. go ahead, ask me…i dare you.

what’s that you ask? oh. you want to know if we were happy tonight. 2 hours of crying, 2 bottles and a 20 minute car ride later, we’re happy now.

mama’s extra happy now, beer in hand, popcorn in mouth and baby sleeping soundly by the door!
