daily dose * what a week

i’m not gonna lie, last week was not the greatest of weeks. you know when you get into one of those moods where everything just irritates the be-jiggers out of you, and your normally grateful, joyful self is buried somewhere deep within and wedged somewhere between impatience and crabbiness? yeaaaaah, it was that kind of week. it didn’t help that the boys were set to ornery mode, and we all know that crabby mama + ornery boys = bad, bad juju.

i’m not telling you all this so that you’ll shower me with sympathy comments, but simply to let you know that i’m right there with ya, life isn’t always perfect, and we all have off days/weeks! {there, don’t you feel better now? i know you were worried!} and besides, my ugly week was topped off by a beautiful weekend…thanks to ernie keeping us on our toes!

{if you missed the HILARIOUS conversation that went down on my facebook page, some of my readers thought ernie looked suspiciously like lover…we humored them with the above image. what do you think? did i subconsciously paint my hubby as an elf? bahahahaha! either way, it is pretty. darn. funny.}

my yucky mood broke on friday and the sun shone on us once again, which is really pretty amazing considering my friday consisted of :

  • sunshine flooding my bathroom by shoving 1/2 a roll of toilet paper down and then flushing. i ran into the bathroom to find sunshine happily sitting on the potty while water gushed from his very soggy thrown {seriously?! who doesn’t get off the potty when it’s overflowing and go get help? seriously. who?}
  • followed by us walking out to our mailbox to get the mail only to return to be greeted by a LIVE BIRD flying around our house. for reals. for really reals. i’m not sure if the boys were more thrilled that it was flying around inside or that it pooped in the house. boys.

there were still some pinpricks of light that managed to pierce my crabby armor earlier in the week, so let’s get to it!

daily dose!

turbojet had been dying to do 2 things :

  1. use the glue gun
  2. make a wreath {not sure why?}

sooooo, that’s what we did.

{ps…you probably won’t be getting any cleaning tips from me. ever. check out that cabinet showcasing my skills. yikes.}

sweet pea is THRILLED with the final product.

our wreath finished and hung. easy-peasy. happy boy, happy mama.

diy stats : supplies

  • wreath form {we used straw}
  • ribbon {to wrap the form & hang the finished wreath}
  • pins {the sewing kind}
  • LOTS of ponpoms {we used varying sizes for more texture}
  • hot glue gun & glue sticks
  • eager helper

diy stats : how to

  • wrap wreath form with ribbon, pin with pins
  • cover the front of the wreath by gluing the ponpoms in pattern/thickness of your choice onto the wreath form
  • hang awesome ponpom wreath
  • high five your eager helper 🙂

turbojet likes to borrow my camera and take pictures. the other day he was taking some of sweet pea and managed to catch this picture of her with a fly on her head {gross.}

he thought it was hysterical, and apparently, sweet pea did to. like a parrot, he repeated, “i just took a picture of a fly on your head” over and over and over, and if it would have been possible for sweet pea to roll around on the ground laughing, she would have been. she was roaring. he was too. the combination of their laughter was a definite mood booster. i’m saving this picture in my favorites folder because it will forever remind me of their joy!

sunshine and i spent one morning playing with the timer on my camera. it’s nice to actually be IN a picture every now and then 🙂

my classic *rocker* picture pose. it’s pretty killer. you can borrow it if you want. you know you want to. it rocks the boat baby.

{photography tip : don’t be like me and use your messy fridge as a back drop. you can see it’s VERY distracting. i would have been better off finding a new location or pulling us forward and using an f-stop that gave us a shallow depth of field to blur the messy fridge background. in case you were wondering :)}

And for some reason..I wanted to make a wreath too this year!

Lanae Brown - I beg to differ about your “messy” fridge. It’s full of art work, pictures and magnets, just like it should be! Your kiddos are just gorgeous and that wreath is awesome! Love reading your blog!

Arlene - From the moment I saw the pic of Charley on the FB post- I smiled!
I love reading your blogs! Always make me feel good.
We had a bird in our house once long ago- Hunter still remembers it!
LOVE LOVE LOVE the wreath! Awesome job, Owen!! I think grandmas would love that for their Xmas gift 🙂
