dear self

hey you.

we need to have a talk, just me and you, head to head, eye to eye, heart to heart.

you haven’t been yourself lately. you’re unmotivated. you’re discouraged. you’re apathetic. you’re exhausted.

dare i say, lazy?

you’ve been hiding in this apathetic sack for over a week now, and frankly, i’m tired of it. i understand every person goes through a slump of sorts, but for every slump is the rise out of it. and guess what?

it’s time.

it’s time for you to rise up. up and out.

time to shake off that slump. to brush away the discouragement. shove the lack of motivation aside. tell your new pal exhaustion to take a hike, and that apathy? well. he definitely needs to go.

because right now? right now you’re not doing any one any favors. your house in disarray? helps no one. your lack of blog posts? inspires no one. your just scraping by attitude? helps exactly 0.0 people out. your lack of interest in taking a shower…well, let’s not go there. the point? this needs to change. soon. fast. fast and soon. like, now. m’kay self?

on a positive note, i can see you’re not sad {i have to add that in for sensitive eyes like those of your mama; who will have you on the phone in 7.2 seconds if she gets a whiff you’re sad. she’s awesome like that. oh, who am i kidding? you already know that.} so we have that to be thankful for.

now please, for the love, get your butt in gear. find your motivation. be excited. be fun. be you.

and now that i mention that, dear self, let’s talk about that for a moment. as long as i have your ear, could you please do me one more favor? please, PLEASE, please {pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease} STOP comparing yourself to others. it’s not healthy. it’s not right. God made you to be you and no one else. you teach your kids those very words, so practice what you preach why don’t ya?

ok dear self, i think i’m done now. so i’m sending you off, with words of encouragement, and motivation, and inspiration, and don’t give up self…

…you’re doing fine.

out of neutral » lifeasyouliveit.com - […] i’ve come to notice that when i’m feeling overwhelmed, overloaded, or what have you. i tend to shift into neutral. that’s where i was when i wrote last week. […]

Your Mama - I love James 1:2-4! I love you and am super happy you’re not sad! I know we all have slumps we go through and I know that yours will pass, too. So hang in there and I know that slump will rise into the clouds next week!

haverlee - i had to come back and read this one tonight. im equally frustrated with myself tonight. my whole house….every room…every corner….has some pile of crap in it. i get so darn overwhelmed i just catch up on instagram instead. im a slow cleaner and my boys are fast messers. a terrible combo. i need to go to bed right this moment and make something happen tomorrow. and we can encourage each other through it. also….none of my punctuation works on my phone when im on your blog so forgive this grammatical mess of a comment lacking all zeal that exclamation marks and smiley faces bring.
