happy weekend!

i’m going to start out bluntly : it was a long week. a LONG week. a week filled with what felt like a repetitious stream of nagging, “owen, don’t do that. owen share with emmitt. emmitt don’t throw cars,” and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

and while that stream flowed swiftly throughout the week, it was met by a raging river of 3-year-old questions. and to be honest, i don’t mind the ‘why’ questions. like, why is that excavator digging right there?…”well sweet pea, they are digging there so that they can build a new road.” piece of cake, i’m all over that; educating him like it’s nobodies business. it’s the questions that occur after we’ve had a 10 minute in-depth discussion about a hotwheels car to which he’ll respond with a, “what car?” really?! did you really just ask me what car? you mean the car we’ve been dissecting for an hour because it is your favorite? ahhhhhhhhhh, be still my aching head.

the point of my rant is to :

A) make me feel better (thank you!) and,

B) to scoop me back into the beautiful cycle of life where i remember just to enjoy and suck as much juice out of every moment as humanly possible

: like a little brother enthralled with the basketball skills of the older or at least extremely amused…

: like little feet dangling, dirty toy cars with blurred babies in the background, enjoying an otter pop with class, and of course the colored tongue to go with it

: or these gorgeous baby blues

: and the closest thing i have to a niece trying to lick up the last of the hose water

i can feel myself coming back. back to life. back to living. back to enjoying. tomorrow is a new day, hopefully filled with less nagging and more conversation, and a MONSTROUS dose of patience for the barrage of questions i will undoubtedly face wouldn’t hurt either. :o)

happy weekend world!
