halloween is over.
at any rate, i thought i would share what i do with all my kids halloween candy…that is, after I’m done playing the part of *cool mom.* you know, the mom who let’s them consume candy continuously while trick-or-treating, again when they get home, and then on and off for a few days afterwards. it’s after the halloween excitement and sugar-highs subside that i make bank.
candy bank that is.
here’s the deal. i’m cheap. i have lots of candy at my disposal and Christmas is coming. starting to get the picture? so after said candy-high’s have gone, i wait until my kids are in bed {so as to avoid potential melt downs. see? i’m sly like that.} and then i sort out their candy.
all the lollipops, and smarties, skittles, and other fruity candies go into our candy jar that sits on our kitchen counter.
all the laffee taffee, tootsie rolls, and candy nobody likes goes into a bag and heads to lover’s school {those PE guys will eat anything. but you didn’t hear that from me}.
that leaves the GOOD candy. the chocolate mother load. after i snag a couple for myself {you do it too}, the good candy goes into a bag and is shoved into the back of our freezer, hidden behind some chicken and a bag of frozen peas. and there it sits. waiting. for Christmas eve, when it will be re-revealed in all it’s glory reincarnated as Christmas stocking stuffer candy.
hallelujah!
i save money, and my kids don’t consume mass amounts of candy for 30 straight days.
winner, winner, chicken dinner.
cheers *
