my life as i live it . a daily dose

oh life, where to begin with you this week on the daily dose?  this week has been a whirlwind of unexpected activity…daily dose!

we signed turbojet up for a new preschool last week.  it’s a montessori school that i’m SUPER excited about.  we went the cheap inexpensive route last year just to get him socialized {ha! turbojet has always been social.} and out of the house, but this year we wanted something better. a last hurrah before kindergarten and the monotonous years of public schooling begin.

{i could get on a soapbox about kindergarten nowadays, but i’ll spare you the gory details and leave you with my personal opinion that…

  • kindergarten should be half day and,
  • should NOT, under ANY circumstances, have homework

…but that’s just me. there. i’m stepping down and sliding my soapbox sloooooowly away.}

the point is he’s signed up, and they’ll be doing all the awesome learning activities a preschool should be doing with their little ones, like : music, spanish, growing a garden, art, hatching chicks, playing, watching catepillars grow, and SO much more!  i hope he loves it as much as i envision him loving it {and as much as i envision MYSELF loving it}…right now, if you ask turbojet about his new school {he’ll start in august}, he’ll tell you all about the basketball hoops.  boys.

this was an interesting week as far as baby goes. i honestly thought i might be posting the daily dose from the hospital and introducing our newest little bundle, but that is not the case and i am breathing easier because of it. being as my due date isn’t for 3 more weeks and i’m SUPER good at planning ahead {sarcasm is dripping here people}, it was a frantic week of washing baby clothes and ordering last minute baby items and doing laundry and packing bags and mentally preparing and, and, and…i can already tell this baby is going to be one that keeps me on my toes!

{when i went to the hospital on thursday, turbojet looked me square in the eyes and said, “tell them, i want the baby to come out today. tell them, TURBOJET said i want the baby to come out today.”  he is beyond ready to claim the title of ‘biggest, big brother.’ such a cutiepie.  image courtesy of : erin kaye photography}

this video of sunshine CRACKS. ME. UP.

the boys started swim lessons this week. i don’t know why it surprises me {because it really shouldn’t} but swim lessons went something like this for turbojet :

“oh, you want me to take my water wings off and swim underwater without them, all by myself across the pool? oh, okay then, let’s do this thing.”

just a natural. period. why we didn’t do this earlier i do not know.

sunshine is another story. he spends the majority of his time laying by the edge of the pool trying to be coaxed into the water by his teacher.

Your Mama - I have tears running down my cheeks. No matter how many times I see Sunshine trying to stay awake, I can’t stop laughing/crying. I love it. And I just talked with a 60+ year old that told me she has forgotten how to have fun and “be a kid” again. So, I agree, let kids be kids for as long as possible and maybe when they grow up they won’t forget how to have fun.

stacey - irene! FIRST, let me thank you for commenting! i’ve said it before, and i’ll say it again, but comments make my heart happy! 🙂 and i TOTALLY agree {in fact, i feel like you crawled inside my head and pulled out the words verbatim!} that kids should be kids for as long as they can! our society seems to want them to grow up so fast and miss out on all the fun of just being kids! thanks for reading!

Irene - Hi there! I just love your blog! Such a fun place to visit!!!! Now I have to say I 100% agree regarding Kindergarten. Our school district just switched back to 1/2 day due to budget constraints. Everyone is in an uproar. I am pretty happy about it. I have no problem letting kids be kids for as long as possible.
