my pinterest pact

pinterest. i love you. i hate you. you are inspiring and not, all at the same time. you encourage creativity, yet manage to water it down all at once. you spur on ingenuity, and you feed the creative copycat. you inspire for hours, yet you take those unproductive hours with you when i’m done.

see? love. hate.

for myself {and anyone else who thinks they need pinterest guidance}, i’ve created a pact. a pact for healthy pinterest usage. for pinning responsibly. for reals.

i, stacey, hereby instate a pact with pinterest, more specifically my pinterest use and pinning habits.

  • i will never get on pinterest simply to *pin* (aka kill time). instead, i will find better more productive ways to use my extremely precious {and very valuable} time.
  • i will use pinterest as a tool. not as a time killer (read above statement).
  • i will search pinterest only when looking for creative inspiration, recipes or otherwise for a specific project or event.
  • i will NOT pin articles (i.e. “top 25 toddler art projects”) without reading them FIRST.
  • i will never, under any circumstances, spend more than 5 minutes on pinterest at any given time.
  • if i start to feel discouraged, like a creative loser or inadequate in any way, i will immediately leave pinterest and not return for a full week.
  • i will make my best effort to pin *correctly,* so that fellow pinners are linked directly to the correct source (i.e. etsy shops, specific blog posts, etc.)

pinterest is a great resource and tool. however, when not used correctly, it can easily balloon into inspiration overload, leaving me (and its users) feeling uncreative, unimaginative, inadequate, and on top of all that? it’s an extremely dangerous time suck. i will make my best effort to use pinterest in a healthy way so that it buoys my creativity and aids in the completion of my creative endeavors.

this pact will be in effect upon signing and until one of the following : i die, terminate my pinterest account or until pinterest no longer exists.

 signed,

stacey - thanks!
