officially ‘big’

on monday, we celebrated owen’s first day of preschool, and when i say celebrated, i mean we CELEBRATED. after all, it was his first day of officially being big. the poor guy was such a great sport considering i was pretty much in his face with my camera since he woke up (ah, the life of a photographer’s son!)

to say that owen was excited is a gigantic understatement. he woke up at 6am, stumbled into my room, and calmly asked if he could go to school now…3 more hours buddy…only 3. so for the next 3 hours, every 15 minutes i was asked if it was time to go yet…now?…now? UBER-excited, but not to worry, we filled those 3 hours with love and excessive photographing, documenting each and every moment of his first day of school EVER.

even the little things like his dr. seuss backpack, and his school bus breakfast…

and lovin’ on daddy before he headed off to work…

and once he was all dressed up in his new school clothes, we headed outside for a quick photo shoot (oh, yes we did!)

i’m in love with the composition of this image…

i even busted out the tripod and remote, so i could join in the celebrating!

now, if this doesn’t look like a little boy ready for school, i don’t know what does!

emmi has missed owen in his first days of school, no big brother to rough house with…so far he wanders aimlessly around the house or sits on my lap – poor guy! and when we drop owen off at school, it’s crocodile tears for emmitt as we head off to the car…

of course we left the house early because i don’t think i would have survived if i had to answer the ‘can we go now?’ question one more time, so i purposely took the wrong way to kill some time and we STILL got there 20 minutes a head of time…perfect. more time for pictures.

my son’s the cheeseball on the left  🙂

this image cracks me up!! mr. social already workin’ it. can’t you hear it, ‘hey guys. did you catch the game last night? it was killer.’

i snuck a few of owen in the classroom and of his ‘cubby’ he decorated with his name…

he did so great…we both did. no tears were shed. no 2nd glances. just love and excitement and hearts bursting with pride. i’m so proud of you owen! we love you little man!

and where does a 3-year-old want to go for lunch to celebrate his first day of school?…

you got it…

stacey - brittany! thank you so much, your sweet words are much needed for the soul of this mama! i’m sure you can relate, it’s so hard as a mom to see/know if you are doing any good. you try your best and still there are doubts…did i handle this right? will they still love me later? will they be a better person because of this? it encourages me when i know that i am inspiring others, so honestly, thank you for reading my blog, for riding along on our journey and for being inspired! love to your babies!

Brittany - Oh my, what fun pictures of Owen’s FIRST day of school! My personal favorite is Owen and his backpack….gotta love Dr. Seuss and those baby blues! I cannot believe that our boys are already to this point. It’s crazy to think how fast three years passes by. Pretty soon we’ll be cheering them on from the sidelines at Concordia!

On a side note Stacey, I just love following your blog. It’s a daily jolt of all things good for me. Your creative energy just amazes me- I can only hope to one day have an ounce of that! Owen and Emmitt are so lucky to have such a great Mommy in you. Take care-

Lisa Wagner - Oh my goodness!!!!! Love the pic when Owen is hugging Emmit! and the one where he is talking up a storm in front of his classroom! I bet that puts a mother’s heart at ease {at least a little} to see him so engaged with new friends right away! What a blessing to have a mom who documents it all!

Arlene - Too cute! Too cute! Too cute!
