pizza pans, cars & a roadtrip

as you read this, the circus and i are smooshed into our van {yes, we rock the van. we LOVE our van. but i won’t go there, not today anyway} rocking out to who knows what crazy kid’s songs, eating oodles of snacks and generally having a ball.

where are we headed?

well, i’m glad you asked! we’re on our way to the great city of boise, idaho where my only most favorite nephew is having his first birthday bash! happy birthday big boy!

then it’s onward and upward to seattle for a night and a stay on orcas island {SO excited!}

sufficed to say, we will be spending lots of chaotic quality time in the car. to eliminate some of the *i’m boreds* and *are we there yets* we will inevitably hear throughout the trip, i’ve gathered a small arsenal of supplies to combat them. there’s the usual : lots of snacks, books, notebooks and markers for drawing, upbeat music etc. and believe it or not, NO DVD PLAYER {insert audible *GASP!*} i’m a mama that is not a fan of TV, so if we don’t need it, i don’t bring it. that simple 🙂

what i DO bring on every trip is something unique for the boys to play with. lots of times, it’s a map showing the states we will travel through; printed out and slid into a plastic sleeve so that they can trace {and re-trace} our route with an erasable marker. but this time, i had a new idea. i’m hope, hope, hoping they like it!

WHAT YOU NEED :

  • pizza pan {or other}
  • permanent markers
  • magnets
  • super glue
  • cars {or other…you could really have fun with this if you actually pre-planned days in advance, unlike yours truly!}

are you ready for this? glue magnets to car bottoms.

{tip : DO NOT under ANY circumstance, glue magnets to your child’s cars when they are in the same room and extremely tired. it will not go over well. i repeat : it will NOT. GO. WELL.}

draw a scene of your choosing onto your pan.

and wa*la! roadtrip entertainment a al pizza pan! whoop!

i’m hoping for 30 minutes of fun, but you never know, we might luck out and hit the entertainment jackpot! only the road will tell…

cheers!
