playing cars 101 * lesson 1

okay, so you all know i am the world’s worst when it comes to playing cars with my boys. or maybe you don’t, so believe me when i tell you, i am the worst. i stink. i get bored. i try to get out of it. i don’t like it…

…which is kind of a problem.

especially when you’re a mama like me with 2 sons who are potential car addicts. wait. they ARE car addicts. and now that turbojet is in all day kinder, he’s left me {ME. the nerve.} alone all day with sunshine who wants to play cars all day long every day. and i mean that people. every. single. day. cars. only.

i ask him what he wants to do, he says, “play cars.”

i throw out some other ideas, he says, “no thank you. let’s just play cars.”

and i cringe a little inside because : a) i feel like a bad mom if i tell him i don’t want to play, and b) i stink when i do play.

in light of all this, i’ve made it my personal mission to see how many awesome ways i can think of to play cars {because Lord knows i canNOT just sit around driving them on the carpet all day} i’m not sure if anyone cares how many different ways i can come up with to play with cars, but i’m going to drag you through this one car-play at a time, kicking and screaming, you’re coming on this ride with me. ya feel me? {insert : yeah, i feel ya}

good.

now, i’m not going to lie. some of these first *playing cars 101* installments are not going to be rocket science. after all, this IS playing cars 101, not advanced car playing 400 or something. so, bear with me until we get into the good stuff. and there WILL be good stuff. i promise. eventually, i’ll {we’ll } be the best damn car players this side of the mississippi. word to your motha.

LESSON 1 * BUILD A CAR CITY

OBJECTIVE : dig out that old box of wooden blocks that don’t get played with nearly as often as they should. help your son or daughter lay out a city for the cars to live and drive through.

by the time we were done, our car city had houses and hotels for the out-of-towners, gas stations and automotive shops, even a police station. it’s a great way to get your child’s brain thinking creatively as they construct their city and gives them the unique perception of a birds-eye view of a city.

RESULT : i actually made it over 1/2 an hour playing this way! {fist pump} {high five} {knuckles} boom, baby.

thank you for joining me in this weeks playing cars 101 lesson! dorky as it may be, i hope you’ll hang around for future installments!

peace out!
