life as i live it . a daily dose

it’s officially spring here in the southwest, which leaves me wondering how on God’s green earth our little blackberry bush continues to thrive! spring, after all, in the southwest, spring means heat and sun both of which manage to bake most of my plants in record time (*ahem* my lack of plantly mothering may also contribute to their quick demise!) but this blackberry bush has been a hearty little guy, thriving, surviving, so i figured he deserved a little space on the blog today for all his perseverance. i’m hoping he manages to outwit the burning sun this summer, as well . . .

baseball season is slowing down and coming to a close (yay for us!), which means daddy has been around a lot more lately. which means lots of daddy playtime . . .

. . . and daddy snuggles. i love watching the boys together. my boys. all of them. happy.

whenever i write about ‘my boys,’ i can’t help but wonder if i’ll still be able to say that when august rolls around. mid-august, will i still be able to say ‘my boys’ and it will include 4 instead of 3 . . . or will ‘my boys’ remain the existing 3 with the addition of a baby girl? only time will tell! as long as we’re on the topic, an update of the little bebe . . .

i’ve kicked myself into DIY mode as of late, trying to finish up sunshine and turbojet’s new bedroom, complete with bunkbeds (i’ll let you know later if that ended up being a great plan or an awful one . . . in my eyes it’s going to swing hard either way!), the nursery, etc. more images to come of completed projects, but for now, a taste . . .

on a random note, i found the MOST ADORABLE print that’s wiggled its way onto the must-purchase-for-our-home list:

wall art

is that not a GREAT visual image of someone totally happy and content with something so simple? a refreshing reminder to enjoy the little things in life.

it wouldn’t be a pre-Easter weekend post, without a few shots of the boys dying Easter eggs. what a mess! thank goodness we set up shop outside because i think the boys had more dye on them than the actual eggs! 😉

and my two favorite images from the egg dyeing extravaganza . . . the first, some brotherly love, and the second, BOTH boys—let me say that again—BOTH boys are looking at the camera! (i always have to do a little happy dance when i get both turbojet AND sunshine looking at the camera. why is it SO hard to photograph your own children?!) i digress. my favorite images . . . TA-DA! . . .
