mom, dad, ducks & love

where to begin? i have an entire blog roll waiting to be posted, but i’ll start here (how, oh how, do i always get behind? please tell me you all are like me!…at least a little to make me feel good…!)

last week was such a wonderful week. my parents flew in from montana and stayed a whole WEEK. now, say ‘a week’ out loud. do it. when you say ‘a week’ out loud it sounds like a long time, but i’m here to tell you that when it comes right down to it, it’s just never enough. our time always goes by UBER fast, like all of a sudden the days of the week decide to hop themselves up on steroids and speed and say, ‘it’s go time!’ i rant. the point is our ‘long’ week flew by, and we were sad to see them go so soon.

before we get to the ‘fun’ part (aka pictures), i have a confession to make. i stink at taking regular old pictures. you know, pictures like everyone stand here and say ‘cheese’ – click. those kind. i also stink at photographing anything that’s not my boys (sidebar : i’m talking purely personal photography here people, don’t get all worried and go canceling your sessions on me! PERSONAL photographs!) so this time when grama & papa arrived, i tried really, REALLY hard to capture images of them interacting with the boys and details of our days. here’s what i came up with…

*pretty sure in the image on the right that is the same facial expression…related much?*

owen getting his spoilage on : chocolate + pop = happy grandson

ps…it RAINED!!! (for reals yo. real rain falling from the sky.) we celebrated with hopscotch 🙂

i’m in love, love, love with this series…

i am also strangely in love with this image of us feeding the ducks…maybe it’s the color? the feeling of delight in the small-ish things in life…yeah, that’s it!

*this goose bit emmitt on a previous visit to the park…thankfully emmi’s memory is not yet amazing*

and this little guy, check out his fro! he rocks. i just really wanted to put him in my back pocket and sneek him home with me…do you think lover would notice if i hid him in the pool? 🙂

another image i love. maybe i’m just in shoot-down-on-things-and-hope-you-get-a-great-image mode…

ok this last set of images, deserves a little paragraph of my ramblings. because i. really. like. them. A. LOT.

first though i have to apologize to my mama because i’m sure she will be none-too-thrilled to see them up on the bloggity blog.

i feel like these images somewhat define her as a person. tell me, what do you see? i’ll tell you what i see; i see unbridled joy. UNBRIDLED people! how often do you see joy this over the top? do you see how much FUN this lady is having??? it’s awesome. and you know what? this is just how mom is. she is fun-loving. she is joyful. she delights in the little things. she loves.

really loves.
