heading home from home

we’re busy packing. gathering bits and pieces of our life that have been scattered from grandparent house to grandparent house and back again. jigsawing new found *treasures* into our luggage. loading up boxes of books we’ve discovered. reorganizing car activities and purchasing a new batch of road trip snacks to make the long trek home.

the time has come. the time that is both readiness and sadness all balled up into one awkward emotion.

we’re ready. we’re all ready. to head home. to our own house and our own space and our own lives.

and yet, we’re not.

because while home is there, home is also here. the town. the mountains. the friends. the family. home.

so friday, we head home from home. in both excited anticipation {this mama needs to get her kids back on a schedule! and that’s saying something since i’m not a scheduley type person…} and also in empty sadness. we’ve went through summer playing and laughing and loving and maybe even driving each other crazy a little bit {right david? 🙂 } but it’s oh so very worth it, and it’s during these summers that we get a glimpse, a taste of the other side. of what it would be like to live in the same town as our parents, as our kid’s grandparents.

the glimpse is both lovely and bittersweet.

so we bid you adieu fare montana, you’ve treated us well. we’ve had a blast. until we meet again, we wish you farewell!
