my life as i live it . a daily dose

this week i’ve been thinking a lot about time. like how flippin’ fast it seems to be flying. my train of thought goes something like this :

  • wow, another week under our belts, which means…
  • sweet pea’s already over 2 months old CRAZY!
  • which means my nephew is already 4 months old…
  • and his daddy is graduating from PA school in a couple weeks…
  • didn’t he just start school? and, wait! didn’t they JUST get married {*cough* 3 years ago!}
  • when turbojet wasn’t quite 2…
  • when i was preggo with sunshine…
  • who’s now 2 1/2. when did this all happen?!
  • and now turbojet is almost 5 {FIVE!}…
  • which means i will have a KINDERGARTENER. next. year.
  • wow.
  • and epiphany, after epiphany, and da, da, da…

you can see where i’m going with this. time. flys. period. it’s a cliche, i know, but it’s a cliche for a reason because IT’S TRUE. and the more i realize and recognize the flighty-ness of time, the more i cling to each and every little moment, each little detail, each quirk, and funny saying … cling, document, live because time is oh-so-flighty!

and now, details of our speedy week of life…daily dose!

*  *  *  *  *

this week was filled with all sizes and sorts of details; they can be found anywhere if you keep your eyes open and your camera near!

little details : like the bond that is forming between biggest big brother and baby sister…

*  *  *  *  *

little details : like sweet pea grasping her blanket for the first time

and walking into the living room to see that turbojet had taken a brief moment from tearing through the toy box to thoughtfully tuck a toy under sweet pea’s arm as she slept,

*  *  *  *  *

and then there are bigger {but just as important} details like loading everyone up to drive 2 hours to a pumpkin patch with good friends,

and basking in the lights of a high school football game,

{normally i don’t see the *likeness* in the boys faces that a LOT of people point out. that middle picture above? i totally SEE it.}

*  *  *  *  *

and lots of everyday details in between : like matching shirts for silly boys,

{also rocked at the football game above…their new favs}

and taking snacks to school the *cool* way,

*  *  *  *  *

and then there are just the silly faces,

*  *  *  *  *

it’s so very important to me to capture these details both for me and for our family that live far away…especially, ESPECIALLY the tiny details : facial expressions that change almost daily, milestones that tend to fly by and can easily be forgotten, activities we did together, friends we shared them with…i want to be able to look back later and re-live those memories whenever. i. want. …don’t you?

how do you rein in the flighty-ness of time? do you carry your camera in a holster, like me, and practice your quick-draw, aim and fire techniques {joking…sort of…} do you blog? do you scrapbook? do you have a crazy-good memory that requires none of these ideas? how do you package your memories? the details of life? your life.

they are important. don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

cheers!

Emily - Stac,
Lovely, heart-felt daily dose! I truly believe the details are so very very important. There are so many beautiful moments that can pass you by if you’re not paying attention to the “here/now”..the “this very moment no thinking about tomorrow…”. Beautiful pictures. I cannot believe how much Owen has grown since he was last in Montana. Maybe it’s the haircut. Anyway, thanks for sharing the details–loved the picture of sweat pea sleeping w/ her animal.

Have a good one!

Your Mama - I miss you guys so much.

Stephanie - Super cute! I hope the pumpkin patch trip was complete with pumpkin spice lattes. 🙂

Lindsey P - I can’t believe how much Charley looks like Owen in that second picture!

Jill - Love all the pictures! Needed a niece and nephew fix! Can’t wait to see them soon. Then we will need lots of pictures of them together! =)
